Elaine K. Sanchez’s Bio

Through her own experience of caring for family elders, Elaine K. Sanchez developed a passion for helping others cope with the emotional stress of caregiving. Her keynotes and workshops are based on her unflinchingly honest and uproariously funny book, Letters from Madelyn, Chronicles of a Caregiver.

Prior to her speaking and writing career, Elaine worked as a sales manager for network television affiliates in Colorado and New Mexico. She now lives in Salem, Oregon with her husband Alex, a professor at Oregon State University. She has published four books, numerous magazine and newspaper articles, and recently launched a web- based Q & A column about caring for family elders.

She is currently in the process of co-writing a book entitled Dorothy’s Journal, which is based on the experiences of Dorothy Tucker, a nurse who spent 30 years working in nursing homes and on Alzheimer’s units. Publication is planned for fall 2012.
